Symbols of patriotism, the fight for freedom and the diverse history that spans centuries are present on every corner. Washington is a city dedicated to recognizing and honouring the best that the United States has produced in all fields of endeavour. Here, monuments to historic events and great individuals are found. There are museums that catalogue and preserve notable political, artistic and scientific achievements. This is a magnificent city that has something to offer every cultural taste.
Here is a sample itinerary for Gettysburg & Washington, just to give you an idea of what your customized group experience could look like. It can be shortened to four days or extended to six days or combined with other cities to create a truly unique experience all your own. Your excursion can include any attractions not seen here. Day 1: Travel to Gettysburg. Stop at the Duty Free Shop en route. Free time at the Outlet Shoppes at Gettysburg.
Day 2: Included Continental Breakfast at the Hotel. Guided Gettysburg Battlefield Tour, includes the major battlefield sites in The Battle of Gettysburg such as Little Round Top and Devil’s Den. Free time to explore Gettysburg. Travel to Washington. Guided Tour of the Capitol Buildings. The Buildings are situated on the site chosen by George Washington. The sparkling white dome symbolizes the center of political power in America. Free time at Tysons Corner Center which has Bloomingdale’s, Nordstrom, Lord & Taylor and Macy’s, and an impressive 300+ specialty shops and restaurants.
Day 3: Included Continental Breakfast at the Hotel. Arlington Cemetery holds the remains of 175,000 American soldiers who fought from the Revolutionary War to the present, including President Kennedy and Robert Kennedy. Free time at the Old Post Office Pavilion. Afternoon Free to Explore the Smithsonian Museums & many other great attractions. Free time for dinner at Union Station which has 100 places to eat, drink and shop. Completed in 1908, it is considered to be one of the finest examples of the Beaux-Arts style of Architecture. After dinner we will go on an Illuminated Monument & Downtown Washington Tour which is an unguided tour and is intended mainly as an opportunity to view the monuments when they are encompassed with lights.
Day 4: Included Continental Breakfast at the Hotel. George Washington’s Mount Vernon is the home of America’s first President and it has been restored to what it was in the last years of Washington’s life. Free time at the National Mall which is an open area national park in downtown Washington running 1.9 miles from the capital Buildings to the Lincoln Memorial. White House (exterior) is the official residence of the President of the United States of America. Holocaust Memorial Museum is dedicated to presenting the History and murder of the millions of victims of Nazi tyranny from 1933 to 1945. Free time at Baltimore's Inner Harbor the city's premier tourist attraction and one of the city's crown jewels. It is a refurbished area of Baltimore that has a host of restaurants and shops to ensure that there’s something for everyone.
Day 5: Included Continental Breakfast at the Hotel. Travel home from Washington.
